CVS Health’s Caremark Expansion Brings 500 Jobs to Orange County
[L-R] CVS Health Pharmacy Technician Aminah Gray, Orange County District 2 Commissioner Bryan Nelson, Rep. Mike Miller, Rep. Mike La Rosa, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, CVS Health Executive Vice President of Specialty Pharmacy Dr. Alan Lotvin, Orlando Economic Development Commission Vice President of Business Development Casey Barnes, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, Florida Department of Management Services Secretary Chad Poppell and CVS Health Pharmacist Thomas Bardwell celebrate the opening of CVS Health’s new Caremark facility in Orange County.

CVS Health’s new Caremark location in Orange County is projected to bring 500 new jobs to the region. The new facility will support the company’s 10 existing specialty pharmacy locations in Orange County.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joined Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Rep. Mike Miller, Rep. Mike LaRosa, Orlando Economic Development Commission Vice President of Businesses Development Casey Barnes and CVS leadership and staff for the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the new facility.

“Today’s ribbon cutting and the creation of 500 jobs is further proof that Orange County is not only the best place to live, work and raise a family, but also to do business,” Mayor Jacobs said. “Orange County is an ideal place for businesses like CVS Caremark to grow and prosper.”

CVS Caremark’s new 112,000-square-foot facility is located at South Park Center Loop near South John Young Parkway. Positions include pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrative services.

The new specialty pharmacy facility grows the presence of CVS Health in the Orlando area, which is already home to a CVS Health distribution center and existing specialty pharmacy operations.

The expansion was made possible through partnerships between Enterprise Florida, Orange County Government, the Orlando Economic Development Commission and many other economic development and healthcare partners throughout the region.

“We are excited to announce the creation of 500 new jobs for families in Orlando,” Gov. Scott said. “With hundreds of locations already in Florida, CVS’s decision to expand in our state is great news.”

Several businesses have recently expanded to Orange County, including SquareTrade, an extended warranty service provider, which opened its second U.S. location in the area in March.

Gallup ranked the Metro Orlando region No. 1 in the nation for job creation in 2015 and this year, KPMG named Metro Orlando the second-most cost-competitive community in the U.S. for businesses.

CVS Health serves millions of people throughout the U.S. with more than 7,900 retail pharmacies, 1,000 walk-in medical clinics, a pharmacy benefits manager with more than 70 million plan members and a senior pharmacy business that serves more than one million patients each year.
