The goal of Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs' Walk-Ride-Thrive! Pedestrian Safety Initiative is to establish and maintain a coordinated, comprehensive and consistent response to Orange County’s pedestrian and bicycle safety issues. Orange County’s current efforts include the Orange County Community Traffic Safety Team, a Student-Pedestrian Safety Committee with Orange County Public Schools; new County sidewalk projects consisting of $2 million in annual funding; $3.5 million in funding annually for sidewalk repairs; regular Road Safety Audit projects, school safety audits and other projects.
